Skip the first song cuz you’ll think this album is complete boring garbage, when in fact it’s only slightly boring garbage. Many songs, and parts of songs, are pretty exciting and rocking, and the percussion is intense, but the band still manages to wussify things.
Harder vox and less “dreamy soundscape” stuff would benefit, but then they might sound nu-metal-ish, though with a complex indie twist. Still, I suppose they’re not bad and when the drums and guitar riffs rock out, it’s fantastic. But then five seconds later, it’s wussy. I don’t know, I’m conflicted and confused. I wish today’s rock n’roll was straight forward like Van Halen.
