Pinhead Gunpowder is a good example of parts being greater than the sum. Featuring Billie Joe Armstrong and Aaron Cometbus, PG consistently put out disappointing albums that aren’t up to Green Day snuff. They’re never terrible, but they never jump out at you.
This one’s better than average – songs like “2nd Street”, “New Blood”, and “Crazy Horse” are great, catchy pop-punk that surpass expectations. As a promo, it’s a keeper. As a 15-minute CD, I can’t say it’s worth buying.
