How many people out there wish the real members of Misfits got back together? Well what if that wasn’t going to happen? I think the next best thing is to see & hear a Misfits influenced punk rock band called Plan 9. The band sounds very close to the original band, it’s a little frightening. Plan 9 started out as a one shot tribute band that saw their show sell out in an hour with the likes of Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield of Metallica in attendance. If those guys dig your band, you know you’re doing something right. Plan 9 have even played for Danzig so that must have been quite surreal for Glenn. Is that me up on stage? But wait, I’m down here watching the band…

The only other CD Plan 9 has is an album called 8 Hits from Hell and this is their second release. I was a little skeptical at first about this band & CD; but as soon as I turned it on I became a fan. Plan 9 started as a tribute band, but seemed to have created a Misfits sub-genre. I’d probably like seeing these guys live a hell of a lot more than the band that’s out there now that is calling themselves the Misfits. Plan 9 play that Walk Among Us style Misfits era. Catchy songs, fast tempo horror punk rock with a singer doing a spot-on impression of Glenn Danzig. At least the band tells you up front that they are a Misfits influenced band and dress like them. If you’re looking for something than sounds like the Misfits, look no further than Plan 9!

Bottom Line: Fantastic Misfits influenced band
Notable Tracks: Blood, Day of the Dead, Manmade Monster, Teenagers from Mars, She Never Sleeps
