The Real Deal hail from Montreal and play the pop punk music you were familiar with back in the 1990s. If there are two bands that the Real Deal remind me of it’s Goldfinger and NOFX. They even have slowdowns and familiar ska riffs as those bands. I’m not saying they are ripping them off but they certainly sound very close to them.
This album is the band’s second full-length album and you can see them play some of these songs on the Warped Tour this year (Toronto, Montreal dates). I like the intensity that the band brings to these songs, but I think this would be better if they concentrated on developing a punk sound that sounded like The Real Deal and not their influences.
Bottom Line: The Real Deal sounds like Goldfinger and NOFX.
Notable Tracks: Bombs Away, Heritage, What Happened..Fuck!?!
