Yay covers! Everyone loves covers right? I know I do. Reel Big Fish have had their fair share of covers in the past ranging from Lita Ford to The Cure to Operation Ivy. Now they are back to do more covers with the band Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer. The two bands duet together and provide you with some covers of The Smiths, Madonna, Fishbone, Human League, Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney and um, Pete’s Dragon. You know that Disney movie with the cartoon dragon, and a bunch of live actors in it. Yeah… that movie.
Aaron Barrett of RBF and Rachel Minton of Zolof The Rock And Roll Destroyer sing on every track together. Hence the album title duh! The first song is “Ask” by the Smiths and I thought Reel Big Fish did an okay job with it, not the best track on the album. I thought the best song on the EP was Fishbone’s “Lyin Ass Bitch.” I guess it’s sort of an easy song to cover since it’s a ska song. The rest of the songs sound good, and you really get the feeling the band sings these songs in Karaoke every weekend. Not sure that’s a compliment or not. But whatever, the EP is fun and there should be more cover albums out there like this!
Bottom Line: Fun cover EP with Reel Big Fish and Zolof The Long Band Name
Notable Tracks: Lyin’ Ass Bitch, Don’t You Want Me, It’s Not Easy
