So this is some pretty standard hardcore. I was never much a fan of hardcore. I know this isn’t bad, but I really couldn’t tell you what makes good hardcore. The singer shouts, but it’s not one of those really terrible screamo shouts. So that’s good. The band plays pretty standard fast and chuggy guitars and heavy drums. I guess that’s good. The little slip that came with the CD claimed that the EP was equal parts scathing yet melodic hardcore and gut-wrenching lyrical catharsis’. I guess it was scathing. Not too melodic really. And my gut wasn’t really wrenched. But the lyrics weren’t too bad.

So in conclusion, I guess this is pretty good. I seriously don’t know why they send the hardcore CDs to the folk music fan. But hey, I guess it’s neat to have the music heard through a different filter, right?

Bottom Line: Decent hardcore, I think.
