I like these guys. Midtempo hardcore with a solid groove, Ruiner specialize in driving, pronounced bass, clear vocals and good guitarwork that doesn’t try to overpower.
That’s the name of the game for these guys – good modern, angry hardcore that doesn’t try to be scary, intimidating, noisy, or overly tough. They’re straightforward and they rock.
But, like in any genre, the most important thing is songwriting. Ruiner have a great sound, but I honestly don’t know when one song ends and another begins. I’d keep an eye on these guys – once they hone their writing skills, they can be a true powerhouse.
Bottom Line: Great sound and pace, but not much differentiation.
