Over the years, I’ve seen Samiam’s name being tossed around a lot but I’ve never actually heard any music from the group until now. Samiam started out in 1988 in the Gilman St/California pop punk/rock scene and their last album “Ashtray” was released in 2000. Geez, talk about a hiatus huh? After finally hearing what these guys sound like, I know I’ve heard their music before but just not sure I like it all that much. In fact, this will probably be the last time I put this album on.

The band sounds good but the singer seems like he’s trying to damn hard. Maybe it’s just the crappy production in the vocals or maybe that’s just the singer’s style? I don’t know. The second track “Take Care” is a good example where the singer sounds like he’s going to burst his balls from trying to sing too hard. For being a band for almost 20 years, they sound very sloppy and just kind of..boring. There is no energy in this album and it makes me want to turn this CD off. Well I guess if you like Samiam, you might like this album but I simply didn’t like this.

Bottom Line: Not sure what the hoopla is all about with this band but I think they are very mediocre
