Academy Award winning film composer (We can say that now!) Randy Newman couldn’t score Pixar’s Finding Nemo this summer because he was working on this score. Seabiscuit is similar to the Natural in a couple of ways. They are both sport movies, and both have themes that start off slow and build as the song continues. The score has a lot of quieter tracks but there is also a few louder and faster songs as the score progresses. Seabiscuit sounds familiar to a few scores like Shawshank Redemption, The Natural, and The Legend of Bagger Vance. I don’t know why it does, but it does. Maybe they all take place around the same time? There’s a Mexican song “La Tequilera” sung Mariachi Reynas De Los Angeles on here and you would know if you heard it. I wish Newman scored more movies, it seems like he doesn’t do too many. This soundtrack is worth at least a couple of listens to see if you enjoyed or not.
Bottom Line: Fans of Randy Newman will want this score.
