Shaggy’s back with his follow up to Diamond selling “Hotshot,” which means he sold over 10 million records. Like many Shaggy releases it takes like over a year to get real hot, as with “Bombastic,” and “Hotshot.” Lucky Day is his newest release and brings in some great guest vocalist like dancehall great Barrington Levy, Rik Rok, and Brian & Tony Gold. The first single on “Lucky Day” is “Hey Sexy Lady.” I remember catching this the first time on Jay Leno and it is a very catchy tune but also has that “stuck in your head” all day feeling. As with most Shaggy records you get the love anthems and woman songs, like the track “Strength of a Women.” My favorite track is “Full Control,” with Barrington Levy. Mainstream reggae fans will enjoy this, while it will take others a while to jump aboard.

Bottom Line: Good reggae album with plenty of radio friendly songs. A strong follow up to “Hotshot.”
Notable Tracks: “Full Control,” “Hey Sexy Lady,” “Give Thanks”
