Get your ‘80s leg warmers on and light up your glow sticks, it’s times to get your groove on with Shakaponk. Shakaponk is a experimental/electro rock band from France & Germany. Just based on those sentences alone, you should expect something weird and different from other bands you heard of. At least they sound different than what I’ve been reviewing of late.

Besides playing experimental & electro rock, they also have a hint of hip-hop and dance music as well. You can hear those styles in the songs “Mad o You,” “Sum Luv” and “Just A Nerd.” The band plays many varieties of styles than experimental electro punk. I can hear in the tracks, bits of punk, hip hop, nerd rock and techno. By far their best track is a nerdy electro rock song called “Prima Scene.” It makes you want to get some shiny jump suit on and dance like a robot. Or take massive amounts of LSD, either or. That pretty much sums up this album, dress up like a hipster robot and take lots of drugs.

Bottom Line: If they had more songs like “Prima Scene,” I would like them more.
