Slide Show Baby hail from Nashville and play Celtic rock..which to me sounds more like whiny rock with a fiddle (aka Yellowcard). This album was produced by Kirk McLeod of Seven Nations and Moriath Records. I decided to check out this album because I’m a fan of Celtic rock, but I don’t really consider Slide Show Baby that. Maybe it’s the vocals that are throwing me off and thinking this is some high school emo rock band. I do really like the violin in the songs, but just don’t care for the singing. The band does a few instrumental songs on here and I actually like them more than the singing songs. That’s very rare for me! I particularly like track 9 “What the Funk?” It’s got fiddles, bagpipes, and all that good stuff to make it a fun Celtic song. If the band did more songs like this and ditched the singer, I’d be more into Slide Show Baby.
Bottom Line: This could have been a lot better.
Notable Tracks: Long Long Road, What the Funk?
