Stephen Edwards’ Piano Music From The Movies is a bunch of beautiful piano covers of Hollywood’s classic theme songs. Stephen Edwards covers 20 tracks ranging from To Kill a Mockingbird to Munich.
When you hear the original tracks, it’s with an orchestra but when the scores are stripped down to just the piano, it takes the pieces in another direction. I like the stripped down piano stuff and honestly, that’s probably how a lot of the classically trained composers started composing their scores anyway. I know John Williams still does that when he’s writing music.

“To Kill A Mockingbird” starts off the album, and music from “Cleopatra” soon follows. I particularly liked hearing the “Main Title” from Once Upon a Time in America,” “Cinema Paradiso Medley” and “Night Mists” from Field of Dreams. By far my favorite piano covers were from Shawshank Redemption though. Stephen Edwards covers “New Fish” and “Brooks Was Here.” Listening to these tracks makes me want to watch Shawkshank again. It is one of my favorite movies ever.

Bottom Line: Excellent piano covers of some of Hollywood’s classics
Notable Tracks: To Kill A Mockingbird, Cinema Paradiso, Night Mists, Brooks was Here
