The Back-Up Plan is the newest J-Lo movie, which if you didn’t guess it by now, it’s a romantic comedy. Her character is having a hard time finding the man of her dreams, and wants to get preggo from a sperm bank instead. That is, until she meets Stan, played by Alex O’Loughlin. Eh, seems like a typical romantic comedy fluff to me.

It seems like it’s becoming a trend with me, of not knowing who these composers are. But Stephen Trask is a musician and composer who was the co-creator/composer for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The film scores he’s done include In Good Company and American Dreamz. The score for The Back-Up Plan is what you’d expect it to be. Light, peppy and fun (“Daydream,” “Chicken in Your Hair”) and then dramatic queues (“That Guy,” “Are You Still There?”) as well. I think my biggest complaint to this score is that the score tracks are too short in spots. And just when you’re getting into the songs, it ends. Overall, this could have been a little bit better.

Bottom Line: This is okay, but not something I’d listen to again.
