Live In a Dive series continues with one of my favorite punk bands out in the scene today, Swingin’ Utters. For a live cd, the quality is great. Obviously seeing the band in person is better than a live Cd but this is the next big thing. The band plays a lot of their classic songs like “The Next In Line” “Nowhere Fast” “Windspitting Punk” and “15th and T.” They also “cover” some tunes from that shitty folk hippie band as they put, Filthy Thieving Bastards, aka them haha. I wish FTB toured more and played some shows over in New York. Like all the LIAD series, it comes with a comic, and also in the CD insert is a Scoo Doo spoof, and the Utters try to uncover the ghosts of punk rock haha. If you put the CD in your computer, you can watch 2 live songs, including an interview with the band. The footage is about 10 minutes long. I want Fat Wreck Chords to start putting these live shows on DVD damn it! Every label is jumping on the DVD bandwagon so they might as well too. Hey, it’s a great market to be in right now. I think this CD and The Subhumans Live in a Dive series are my favorites in the series so far. I have absolutely no negative comments about this Cd. That’s a first for a review right?
Bottom Line: Yeah, Swingin’ Utter/punk fans will definitely want this CD!
