The horror punk/ psychobilly band from Montreal are back with their 5th full-length album “Drunk Not Dead.” I first heard of the Brains last year with their release Zombie Nation, and the band has picked up right where that album left off. “Drunk Not Dead” is actually a lot better though!

“Horsemen” and “Four Beast Ride” start the album off but it’s not until hear the next track that makes me think differently of the Brains now. “Take What I Want” is a song that really stands out from the rest. In fact, It’s probably the best song I’ve heard the band play so far. It’s got a Stray Cats/Plan 9/Misfits sound that’s so catchy I’ll be humming the chorus all day now. This is the type of song that you show to your friends to get them into a band. Listen to it on Spotify here. I think the band sounds best when they aren’t as punky and do the psychobilly thing. Instead of screaming, sing because Rene can clearly do that. By far a better album than Zombie Nation and I’ll be listening to this album for awhile!

Bottom Line: Zombie Nation was good but this is just a kick ass album!
Notable Tracks: Take What I Want, Six Rounds, Gato Calavera, Drunk Not Dead
