Back to the Ache is the follow-up to The Heligoats’ 2010 album Goodness Gracious. I haven’t heard that album so I’m not sure how this album compares. Back to the Ache starts off kind of bland but don’t worry, it gets better.

The first two tracks (“Good Morning”, “Sleep Study”) were a bit too slow for me but when “Drai Zich” comes on, that’s where the album starts to get good. The Heligoats have an indie rock sound but it’s more to it then just “indie.” You can throw in a little bit of folk, a little bit of alternative in there as well. “Tofutti” is the band’s single and it’s a decent track but I actually prefer the next track after that, “Arizona, Baby.” It’s a fast song and it’s catchy as well. Heligoats’ songs are hit or miss with me but overall, I thought this was a good album that I’d listen to again.

Bottom Line: I’d listen to these guys again
