Who would have thought I would be so happy to hear some pop punk! In the 1990s, pop punk was overly saturated with bands that sounded the same, and then it went way of the Dodo. After that, bands went emo and indie instead. Now, pop punk bands are back in the limelight again and hopefully the scene won’t be AS saturated as it once was. You know what people say, “less is more.”
Pop Punk’s Not Dead features catchy pop punk from all over the globe. Who knew their was a punk band on the Cayman Islands. What exactly do punk bands have to complain about the Cayman Islands. “Rar Rar I hate the sun, the beach, I hate it all RAR!” Some of the bands you might have heard of before are Teenage Bottlerocket, the Queers, The Parasites, Squirtgun, River City High, Boris the Sprinkler, Guff, and the Travoltas. There’s a lot of bands I don’t know on here and I’m glad that’s the case. Compilations are always great to discover some new bands. There’s 30 total tracks and the majority of the songs are good and fun to listen to. If you are a fan of the pop punk genre, this is a must-have!
Bottom Line: An excellent pop punk compilation! Pop-punk is back baby!
Notable Tracks: Music from Teenage Bottlerocket, The Queers, The Manges, Mach Pelican, Travoltas, Squirtgun, The Dazes
