God, this is so fucking bad. I want to kill myself than live in a world where this exists.
This sucks on two levels: conception and execution.
To begin with, how is sappy acoustic crap considered “punk”? Because punk bands are doing it? Well, I’ve never heard of half of these bands, and the other half aren’t that good to begin with, so who gives a shit? But even if this were 15 tracks by the Dead Kennedys, would self-pitying lyrics with an acoustic guitar around a campfire be considered “punk”? Hell no. So this comp should be called “Bands I barely know playing some crappy acoustic for no good reason… Volume 2.”
But 15 acoustic tracks by the Dead Kennedys, or the Ramones, or hell, freaking anyone good, would be better than this crap. This gets into the execution argument. Okay, if you think that if a punk band does an acoustic song it can be considered “acoustic punk,” we still have the problem that none of these songs are good whatsoever, or even if these bands could be deemed “punk” to begin with. I’m not going to run through the roster, but the only recognizable bands are Silverstein (crappy emocore), All-American Rejects (power pop), and Anti-Flag (admittedly, the sole punk band). The rest are emo, emocore, or “unknown” (but likely emo).
So again – who gives a shit? Maybe I would, if the comp had bands that were remotely “punk” to begin with, even if they’re not playing “punk,” but this comp might as well be 15 tracks by Ryan Adams with a pickle up his ass.
To me, this is yet another attempt by Fearless Records to put out some crappy novelty comp that has no redeeming value. I wish someone could copyright the word “punk” so that Fearless can’t make up shit with it to move units.
Bottom Line: Acoustic garbage by crappy bands you never heard of.
Notable Tracks: What’s notable is that I didn’t vomit on myself.
