Surfs Up Dude, It’s time for a compilation filled with surf/pop punk bands! Listening to this certainly helps my state of mind since there’s supposed to be a blizzard this week in New York. God I hate snow. I used to love it because it canceled school, now I just hate it. But anyway, i’m here to talk to you about this new compilation from Cabana 1 Records. This compilation is a pop punk benefit album; the proceeds get donated to help keep the oceans clean. Where the Fun Never Sets Vol. 1 features a lot of underground pop punk bands from the Southern California area but I also believe from other areas well. Some of the bands featured on this album include the Queers, Rydells, The Underhills, PEA Shooter, The Lebowskis, The Burbs, High School Dropouts and many more! This album is great because it has a lot of bands I don’t know, and the music is fun too. This is the real pop punk stuff and not that crap that came out in the late 90s. The kings of surf punk, The Queers, have an unreleased version of “Goodbye California” on here so that was cool to hear. I guess if you don’t like pop punk, you won’t like this comp but I loved it! It definitely breaks up the usual pattern of reviewing the same screamo and emo bands.

Bottom Line: Fans of Screeching Weasel, Descendents, and The Queers will love this compilation!
Notable Tracks: Songs from The Queers, Rydells, PEA Shooter, The Underhills, The Lebowskis, Slartybartfast, Varsity Weirdos
