Absolutely fantastic! If you don’t know the Vandals, they play clever pop punk with themes that focus on more than just love (MTX), and they have the musical talent and creativity to move beyond three chords (Queers). They’ve got an 80s quirkiness and hair-metal band guitar sensibility, but they don’t suck (NOFX). And that especially true on LWIASI – the rare punk album that I’d call “brilliant.”

There is not one bad song on this album – in fact, all are exceptional. It’s one of those albums that would have to be repeated in its entirety on a greatest hits package. If I had to choose, my faves are “Behind The Music,” a funny/true account of the music industry; the cute and gutsy “Sorry, Mom & Dad”; the philosophical “Flowers Are Pretty”; the They Might Be Giants-esque “What About You?”; the synthy, moogy “Kick It (You’re Not the Boss of Me)”; and “Get A Room,” a hilarious anti-exhibitionism anthem.

For a band that’s been around for a million years and has already put out many great albums, this is the rare late-career album that truly makes the career and defines the band. It’s that excellent.

Bottom Line: Perfect.
