Of all the trends today, I least mind the casio-punk trend. When the 80s faux-futuristic throwback stuff is done well, it can be really fun. Unfortunately, VCR doesn’t do it well.

They can get some bouncy, circusy sounds from their keys and drums, but the vocal delivery is very lame. Off-key shouting that’s half white boy rap, half bad hardcore. It doesn’t jibe well with the cutesy keys, and probably doesn’t jibe with anything. Eject this VCR.
