Whoa Oh is the best pop-punk label at the moment. Everything they put out seems to be exactly what I want to listen to. This split CD is no exception – The Vents play dorky, slightly bratty but straight-forward pop-punk that’s like a cross between Squirtgun and Screeching Weasel. They’re good, but maybe a little flat.
Teen Sensation Glasses are the winners here, with a unique pop-punk sound: at the forefront is sloppy punk (with very loose drumming), Undertones guitar riffs, and cutesy Beach Boys-inspired vocal lines and handclaps. In the background though are in-and-out Casio noises. The whole thing sounds garagey but different, especially for pop-punk.
