Portland’s Water and Bodies is a new band project from Kaddisfly members Christopher Ruff, Beau Kuther, Kelsey Kuther, and Aaron Tollefson. The only member not present is bassist Kile Brewer. I’m not familiar with Kaddisfly’s music since I never got around to reviewing their CD. Water and Bodies EP contains 6 tracks in total and is available for download at Rain City Records website.

I’m not sure what to think of this band yet. I have to listen to the EP a few more times to get a strong opinion of them. I like the new wave, gothic feel to the music but at the same time it’s too slow for my liking. The singing gets a little whiny, and at points the music ventures into experimental territory. Not a fan of that stuff. Not sure why, but I didn’t mind “Celebration Song” and “Free World.” Perhaps they were the most upbeat songs out of the bunch? Kaddisfly fans might enjoy this, but I’ve heard Water and Bodies are different. So check out some of their songs on MySpace before buying this. I thought this could have been better.

Bottom Line: If you like Kaddisfly, you might like this
