This is avant-jazz I can get behind! I typically dislike when bands trade in all concept of songwriting for experimental randomness, but WIMBC’s two lengthy and stripped-yet-complex songs here make internal sense.

Shuffling drums keep a driving, bubbling rhythm, while single-note electric piano does melodic and tonal acrobatics. The result is more playful than pretentious, and as enjoyable to listen to as this music gets.

Bottom Line: Progressive jazz that is somehow fun.
