Zebrahead are interesting in that they’re something of a skater punk band that takes a metal-rap approach. Which sounds absolutely terrible, but Zebrahead are one of the very, very, VERY few (only?) bands that do it well.

Sounding like Rage Against the Machine and Quarashi at a blistering pace and with crazy eclecticism and catchy punk choruses, Zebrahead transcend the usual Korn and Limp Bizkit comparisons. I mean, listen to “The Juggernauts” – I can’t think of anything it sounds like. It’s just fast-paced, incredibly catchy and fun, and cool despite everything telling you it shouldn’t be.

This could be music that surfaces during tense moments on MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge, but I can’t deny them their smart writing, indefatigable energy, kitchen-sink style, or pure catchiness. They only falter during ska/reggae moments or when they toe into emo. But this is a full album with 16 tracks and a lot to offer. A guilty pleasure, to be sure, but a good one.

Bottom Line:
Notable Tracks: HMP, Hell Yeah!, The Juggernauts, Be Careful What You Wish For, Brixton
