Yes is another classic rock/ prog rock band that I know only a handful songs from. This is a special concert because it was filmed when they were playing with a live orchestra. The European Festival Orchestra is the orchestra that joins them on stage. This concert was released back in 2002 or so on DVD, but now it’s available on Blu-Ray!

The Yes Blu-Ray starts off with some trippy lame CGI landscape and then shows the band playing along with an orchestra. They open up with the classic “Closer To The Edge,” which is one of the songs I know. Another is “Long Distance Runaround,” which sounded perfect with the orchestra.

For the song “Don’t Go,” the song sounds pretty good, especially with the orchestra. At some point during the song, an animated yellow car comes across the screen. I was thinking “What The Fuck?!” Clearly I forgot to take LSD for this concert. Throughout the concert, you’ll have stupid bad CGI landscapes popping up on the screen and it just takes you out of the the viewing. I know it’s all about the far out, just go with it mentality but clearly Yes and the Blu-Ray makers missed the mark on this. People just want to see the band perform and not some lame CGI.

This concert is about two hour and 45 minutes, which is freakin’ long! But when you have a band like Yes playing, you can expect you’ll be seeing a show! The music of the band sounds even better when there’s a live band with them. I highly recommend checking this one out if you’re a fan!
