Honestly, I’m surprised that Catch 22 is still a band. Ska isn’t exactly the hippest thing these days but the band has slightly changed their sound to blend in with the fickle music scene. Now they have a live CD/DVD for the fans to enjoy.

Originally, I wasn’t really fond of Catch 22’s first CD, I just thought they sounded like any ole’ ska punk band coming out of NJ. Still feel that way but eventually I came around to liking a few tracks. Then they got a new singer and this is when the band sounded the best, in my opinion anyway. After that singer left, the sax & trumpet players took over the singing duties and I’m not sure I like the style now. Catch 22 sounds like something you’d hear in Hot Topic.

This CD/DVD is pretty good though. The concert was filmed in Long Island at the Downtown in August. The live footage is shot well, and the audio is great. Some of the footage is taken right from the skankin’ crowd and some of it’s right on stage. But the video quality is like something you’d see in a music video instead of a concert. The look is very fitting. The band definitely sounds better and energtic live. Though I missed the 2nd singer singing and jumping around though. He added more life to the band.

This CD/DVD also contains a lot of cool extras like the band traveling around country incuding Las Vegas. There’s also some bad photos of the band members, music videos for Wine Stained Lips, Point the Blame and Hard to Impress, plus some other goodies. Catch 22 Fans should not hestitant to get this CD/DVD combo. I wish more bands had this kind of CD/DVD.
