It’s the last DVD/Blu-Ray Tuesday Roundup for October 2010. No complainers, it’s NOT the last roundup ever. This quick DVD/Blu-Ray roundup is just a guide to DVD and Blu-Ray movies, TV series, etc. that are coming out this week. This isn’t meant to be in-depth reviews. I don’t have time watch every single movie out there or write Pitchfork-length reviews. But anyway….Some of the DVD and Blu-Ray releases coming out today include: Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy Blu-Ray, The Girl Who Played With Fire, Elf (Ultimate Collector’s Edition), Sex and the City 2, Alien Anthology Blu-ray,Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Complete Season Two, The Venture Bros: Season 4, Vol. 1, Paths of Glory (The Criterion Collection), Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae and more!

Here are the DVD/Blu-Ray releases of the week:

Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy (+ Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

“Do you know what this means? It means that this damn thing doesn’t work at all!” Can’t wait to see the extras for this, including that cringy footage with Eric Stoltz!

The Girl Who Played With Fire

This trilogy will be re-made soon, starring Daniel Craig I believe. I hear the books are excellent. I think I’ll wait for the remake.

Elf (Ultimate Collector’s Edition) [Blu-ray]

“You smell like beef and cheese, you don’t smell like Santa!” One of my favorite Christmas movies now! It’s the first movie I have to watch of the Holiday season. This Ultimate Edition isn’t very ultimate and doesn’t contain anything new, just goodies like stockings, stickers, etc.

Sex and the City 2

I hear when the Government wants to torture people, they put this movie on.

Alien Anthology [Blu-ray]

Still haven’t seen most of these but now would be a great time to see them all. Movies must look awesome on Blu-Ray! Or maybe not, I don’t know.

Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Complete Season Two

After the Star Wars movies ended, I thought I would like to see more. But after seeing a few Clone Wars episodes, just not a fan of it. Don’t like the animation and think it’s too kiddie. But then again, so were the prequels.

The Venture Bros: Season 4, Vol. 1

I loved the first 3 seasons of the Venture Bros but for some reason I bailed at the beginning of this season. No idea why, maybe not enough time to watch them? Maybe I’ll give this season another chance now that it’s on video.

Paths of Glory (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

Never seen Paths of Glory. What does everybody else think of it?

Who is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin’ About Him)?

Good question, why is everybody talking about him??

Surviving the Holidays with Lewis Black

Lewis Black has his grumpy moments. I’m curious to see how this is because I have a feeling this might be hilarious.

You Don’t Know Jack

It’s frightening how similar Pacino looks like Dr Kevorkian.

Tonight – 4 Decades of The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson

Watch The Tonight Show when it was funny, before Jay Leno ruined it.

Man V Food: Season 2

This show makes me want to be anorexic.

Santa Claus: The Movie (25th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray]

For some reason, I never saw this one. I might have seen pieces of it but I always ended up watching Emmet Otter or Rudolph instead

How the Earth Was Made: Complete Season 1 [Blu-ray]

The History Channel is releasing some cool shows lately or maybe it’s the fact that I’m turning into an old fart and enjoy this crap?

Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae

Documentary on rocksteady, ska and reggae. Should be an interesting one and I’ll have a full review posted up soon!
