DVD/Blu-Ray Tuesday Roundup (October 4th 2011)

Blu-Ray Reviews, DVD Reviews | By on Oct 4th, 2011

It’s time for the DVD/Blu-Ray Tuesday Roundup for October 4th 2011 and some of the titles coming out today include: The Lion King, Fast Five, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Scream 4, Ken Burns: Prohibition, Submarine, The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season (3-Disc Special Edition) and more. Not much really worth talking about this week. Each week I’ll list the latest DVD/Blu-Ray releases and point out the ones worth buying. I can’t review everything I get so this serves as a nice guide for what’s coming out each week. Plus, it’s just fun making fun of movies and TV shows!

The Lion King (Two-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray / DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging)

The Lion King is one of the best Disney movies and it looks simply awesome in Blu-Ray. It looks like it was released for the first time this year.

Fast Five (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy in Blu-ray Packaging)

I haven’t seen any of the Fast and the Furious movies. This one actually might be watch-able just because it seems different than the other ones. I could be wrong though.

Pulp Fiction [Blu-ray]

Classic movie that I’m looking forward to seeing again, especially on Blu-Ray!

Jackie Brown [Blu-ray]

I’ve never seen Jackie Brown. Is it decent?

Scream 4 [Blu-ray]

Yeah. This was necessary.

Ken Burns: Prohibition

Ken Burns is perhaps one of the best documentary filmmakers. I loved his WWII PBS documentary and looking forward to seeing this one too.

Pee-wee’s Big Adventure [Blu-ray]

“Good morning Mr. Breakfast!”

Almost Famous [Blu-ray]

Fantastic rock movie that makes you want to be a music journalist.

“Weird Al” Yankovic Live! – The Alpocalypse Tour [Blu-ray]

Weird Al seems like he would be a blast to see live.

The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season (3-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

Oh sure, release a set earlier on and then release this with more stuff after the fact. I hate that because it feels like you’re missing out on cool extras. Just put this stuff on the sets to begin with!

The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway

This was okay but it was pretty much the same as the original HBO show.

Submarine

Richard Ayoade from IT Crowd’s critically acclaimed indie movie. Not sure if it’s funny or not but might be worth the viewing just because of Richard’s involvement.

Pixar Short Films Collection 1

I love just about everything has done including their short films.

Also coming out today:

Disneynature: African Cats (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging)

The League: Season Two

In Treatment: The Complete Third Season

Lie To Me: Season Three

Friday Night Lights: The Complete Series

Bored to Death: The Complete Second Season [Blu-ray]

Mighty Hercules
