From the trailers of this movie, it looked like a quirky comedy with a lot of people in it. Well it was definitely quirky, but I wished I never saw this movie!

This film is about a poet/activist (Jason Schwartzman) hiring two existential detectives (Dustin Hoffman & Lily Tomlin) to investigate the meaning of a bunch of coincidences that could be the key to life…or something like that. Other people start to get involve like a fireman worrying about stupid petroleum (Mark Wahlberg), some hot chick who dresses up like an Amish chick (Naomi Watts), and a pretty boy salesman (Jude Law) who tells the same stories over and over again. Then, some French lady gets in the way of the detectives and tries to show the poet her side of life. At this point of the movie I was in la la land and not paying attention to this stupid nonsense.

I knew I wasn’t going to like this movie within the first 5 minutes. For one, I can’t stand Jason “Unibrow” Schwartzman’s movies and don’t like him as an actor. If I know he’s in a movie, I usually skip it because he appears in nothing but artsy fartsy weird films with very dry humor. But the movie was really weird and I’m not a fan of these types of films. I had to check to see if this movie was written by Charlie Kaufman because I can’t stand his movies either. Some might say it’s a smart comedy, yeah maybe, for people who actually want to know about this shit. I hate people who just overanalyze everything and are too philosophical. Can’t you just enjoy life! Who gives a fuck about coincidences, existence, and other hoopla.

I just didn’t find anything good about this movie. I usually like Jude Law as an actor, but he sucked in this. His god awful American accent was painful to watch, and I wanted to take a lawn mower to Dustin Hoffman’s hair. I don’t like Lily Tomlin either. I usually like Mark Wahlberg, but he just felt really really out of place in this movie. Doesn’t seem like something he would be in. That’s probably why he did it though.

The DVD I reviewed had just the commentaries on it, but there’s a two disc set of the movie as well. I didn’t listen to the commentaries because I could barely watch the movie itself. If you like the movie, and want to know what the director/writer and the actors thought of the movie, then you might want to listen to it. I just didn’t have any desire to listen to the commentaries.

I Heart Huckabees is a movie for people into existence theories and other philosophy horseshit. As you can tell, I hated the movie and wanted to turn it off within 5 minutes. Maybe you’ll like though.

Favorite Scenes: If I had to pick a scene or two, its probably when Jason Schwartzman and Isabelle Huppert making out in the mud. Another scene I chuckled at was the rubberballs scene with Unibrow and Marky Mark.
