Before Space Ghost was making people laugh as a talk show host, he was kicking serious space butt! I was always a fan of Space Ghost and other Hanna Barbera cartoons as a kid, and glad some of the cartoons are finally making their way onto DVD. If you ever watched a Space Ghost cartoon, this DVD is something to have! And I guess if you like Dino Boy, you’ll want this DVD as well.

Space Ghost was one of the very first super heroes by Hanna Barbera. He might have been the first but I’m not sure. Space Ghost flies around the universe and polices the galaxies for bad guys. His ship is called the Phantom Cruiser and it’s pretty bad ass because it can turn invisible like the Man himself. So I guess he’s the male Wonder Woman then? To help old Space Ghost along is Jane and Jace, brother & sister who bicker a lot. Plus there’s the space monkey Blip who’s there to help out and cause trouble at the same time. They all fight their galactic enemies like Brak and Zorat. No, this is way before they all did a TV show together. Dino Boy is some kid who crashed landed and ends up in primitive times? Um ok. He gets rescued by some Caveman named Ugh and a dinosaur Bronty. The dinosaur sounds mysteriously like Scooby Doo…hmmm..Dinosaurs, dogs, it’s all the same in Hanna Barbera land I guess. The three of them join forces and help people and do adventurous things. If you haven’t figured it, I hate Dino Boy.

Space Ghost & Dino Boy were split up into three segments in the original show. You’d get a Space Ghost cartoon, then a Dino Boy cartoon and then the episode would finish off with another Space Ghost episode. Though I never really liked that when I was kid because I just wanted to see Space Ghost. Who gives a crap about some little kid living in the stone age with some dumb caveman? Unless it’s Captain Caveman, I don’t care! Each episode of Dino Boy really felt like filler to me. But back to Space Ghost, I used to love watching the opening sequence to the show because it just showed Space Ghost kicking some ass! After not seeing the cartoon for years, It was certainly fun to watch again. But I can’t help but wish that other, and better Hanna Barbera shows come out on DVD like the Herculoids, Speed Buggy, Blue Falcon & Dynomutt. The Herculoids do appear in one episode on this DVD and I think Space Ghost appeared on their show quite a lot as well. I’m just hoping that is in the works at Warner Brothers right now! But if you enjoy the original Space Ghost cartoons, this is certainly something to get! Who wants to try to watch them on TV when you can get them all right on one DVD!
