Well what can I say….Never ever trust mapquest. I swear to god, this bastard site has had me going in circles for too freaking long.
It got me to within 3 blocks of The Chance, and then it totally fucked me, making us drive around in circles for god knows how long. Thank you to the taxi driver for giving us perfect directions. I should just ask a taxi driver from now on… Well Mest was supposed to play this show, and while I’m not too much a fan of them, my friends are and were looking forward to seeing them. Not too much a loss, I was there for Goldfinger. Got in fine, they didn’t take my wallet chain, which a lot of places seem to do to me. Or is it just the Webster in CT??? Oh well.
Anyways, the show started relatively quickly with a band called The Schematics. Cool band, but… I dunno. Didn’t make too much of an impression on me. And then The Urge came on… And they made absolutely no impression on me. I think they played the same song, over and over and over again. It would be reggae for a while, then go into a real sweet h/c breakdown, then… Nothing. The Urge took forever to set up… And then they took forever and a day to set up Goldfinger’s shit. Literally. I was dog tired from working and riding 2 hours + in a car and blah and blah and blah.
But then Goldfinger came on. They played so much shit, but they played “The City Has 2 Faces (Fuck LA)” so I was happy. Darrin brought out a huge inflated dildo for a bit…He sang Sisqo’s “Thong Song” and did some other fucked up shit. Yes he did have on thong on as well…Oh well, it’s Goldfinger. Ride home was uneventful, and everything was cool. It was Goldfinger, you know? They rule!
