This wasn’t just another Pilfers or Edna’s Goldfish show, it was their Record Release show! This show was way too early but I liked it. It felt strange going to a show and leaving at 11am! We knew this was going to sell out and we get there and there was tons of kids playing around the wetlands. We jumped in line towards the front of the door and were behind a bunch of gabbing teeny boppers. Just what I love! yeah right. So they finally opened up the doors and all the other people that weren’t on line and were hanging by the side decided to cut in line of the people waiting in the right spot. But whatever, we still got a decent spot to sit. I still haven’t heard the new Edna’s Goldfish Cd and I was staring it down with my own eyes but of course Moon hasn’t even sent it out to me yet.

The first band was Catch 22 and they were a good opening band for this show. They had a lot of energy on stage and just didn’t sit around and play ska. They played songs like “Dear Sergio,” “Keasbey Nights,” and “Day in Day Out.” Next was (gag) Weston. Oh wait, I broke a tear when I was listening to them because they’re just so emo. I saw them once before back in like ’97 and they didn’t impress back then and they don’t now. I rather listen to Rosie O’ Donnell singing her stupid show tunes than that crap.

Anyway, I had a good nap when they played and then came on one of the bands I was there to see, Edna’s Goldfish. They started off with “Avoiding the Swerve,” which they usually play last. They also played “Story,” “Invincible,” “This is Not Here,” and “I’m your Density.” The band was playing pretty well, I think better than some of their other shows. Then Dave crowd surfed into the crowd like I saw him do back in the old Edna’s Goldfish days. At this point, The Wetlands was packed and in the booth where Matt and I were sitting. Someone decided to put gum on the seat and I decided to sit in it. YIPPEEE! that just made my day. Then some annoying little girls came by and sat near us screaming for Edna’s Goldfish like they were the Backstreet Boys. Ok, back to the the music. Edna’s Goldfish ended up with “Veronica Sawyer.” They were going to show the video for that but the projector in The Wetlands was broken. Before Edna’s started playin’, they announced they just added the sort of same show again for tomorrow for only 5 bucks because they had to turn away like 400 people without tickets. I guess it’s a good thing to buy tickets before hand.

Next up was the Pilfers. Nathan from the Real World Seattle/ MTV was there and introduced the Pilfers. Which I thought that was pretty cool even though I didn’t like him on Real World that much. They started off with “Aqua,” and then went into one of my favorites “Yukaza.” Oh yeah, I almost forgot. they had all this professional video stuff and they filmed their whole set and a they played “Climbing” twice for the video they are making, I guess. Coolie was saying that it was only a “home video” but I doubt that was the case. I could be wrong though. During their set I kept screaming to them to play “Choose Life,” and “My Time Now,” (my favorites on the new album) but they didn’t play them. They also played other great songs like “Lay,” “Generation,” What’s New,” and “Jolly, Jolly.” During their set, the crowd was cursing out Giuliana when Coolie mention this show was being push to venue to venue. And he then said that he thought it was his fault and I totally agree. They finished off with “Shits Up in the Air.” I thought they played excellent and Edna’s Goldfish played great as well.
