From BostonSka.com:

Really Big News is the event happening this Sunday (June 15) at the Middle East in Cambridge. Legendary Jamaican artist Derrick Morgan will perform in Boston for only the second time in 20 years. For those who don’t know the “King of Ska”, he was a founding father of ska music in Jamaica along with The Skatalites, Laurel Aitken and Prince Buster. He still holds the distinction of being the only person to hold the top seven singles spots simultaneously in the national chart in 1960. Some of his hits includes “Housewives’ Choice,” “Moon Hop,” and “Tougher Than Tough” (some consider “Tougher Than Tough” very first Rock Steady single in 1966. This is going to be an historic occasion, and as such, this event will be recorded live for a documentary on Derrick Morgan by local ska/rock steady/reggae aficionado Generoso, who previously produced the full length award winning documentary on original Rock Steady guitarist Lynn Taitt. Generoso also hosts the weekly Bovine Ska & Rock Steady radio show Tuesday night from Midnight until 2AM on WMBR 88.1 in Boston or listen to the archive of the show at wmbr.org. Opening the show, and having the fine distinction of being Derrick’s backing band is Boston’s own VOID UNION (www.myspace.com/thevoidunion). The show is 18+ with doors at 8pm.
