PJ Harvey-like delivery and midtempo, piano-heavy riffs give this band a good 90s chick rock strut. Courtney’s low register and lack of range isn’t so bad – it gives her cocky, sultry rockitude, which goes well with the swaggering pace.
The album does falter midway with a couple of lengthy, ballady tunes and singer/songwriter flourishes that add unnecessary melodrama. Generally, though, the music is dated but not bad.
Bottom Line: PJ Harvey-ish.
