“Jump Blues” begins with fast synth that reminds me of “Baba O’Reilly,” which is pretty cool, but the music ends up sounding a little like U2 meets irritating post-punk. Unfortunately, it’s the best tune on the EP.
The other tunes have that mix of British classic rock, pop, and hipsterish punk/dancey edge, but they don’t pull it off well. The songs are surprisingly bland and sound dated rather than retro. It doesn’t help that they overuse ballady piano elements.
