With “The Superhuman Monster Show”, NYC’s Serpenteens pick up right where they left off with the 2006 release of “Dead Men Walking”.

Although not really a full-length release with just seven new songs and four live songs from “Dead Men Walking”, “The Superhuman Monster Show” is still a pretty good offering to the demigods. Again, the band provides a variety of songs with the same “horror-rific” songwriting. The pace of this album is a little bit faster than their last but the Serpenteens surprised me with the rockabilly influenced title track and the acoustic horror rock ballad “Tonight…”.

Honestly, just having discovered the Serpenteens and with just two albums under their studded belts, I have been both thoroughly impressed and pleasantly surprised with each and every song. “The Superhuman Monster Show” as an album isn’t quite as good as “Dead Men Walking” but it managed to pack a lot of good songs within its’ slight frame.

Bottom Line: A mix of new and live songs with more of a punk feel than their last offering.
Notable Tracks: The Superhuman Monster Show, Tonight…, Wolf’s Breath
