Static Taxi was one of many bands Bob Stinson played guitar with after he was kicked out of the Replacements, but there’s very little released that showcases his post-Mats work. In that sense, this is a great album to own. And Stinson’s guitar playing has that crude, classic rock feel of drunken and drugged-out excess, kind of like if Jimmy Page was in a post-punk New York band.
Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of this band – it’s too club-rock for me, but then again, I was never really got into the Replacements either (yes, I know, I suck).
