Carbon Leaf recently just released their new album “Nothing Rhymes with Woman” out on Vanguard Records. At their live shows, the band gathers around 1 microphone and do a few songs that way. Carbon Leaf’s latest album on Vanguard Records might take you a few listens to really enjoy it. But after that, you’ll realize the band have outdone themselves yet again. The folk rock band from Virginia has two new members, but it’s hardly noticeable. I think that’s a good thing because the new guys have fit right in. “Nothing Rhymes With Woman” is more in line with “Indian Summer” and “Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat” than their earlier, celtic/folkier albums; which is fine by me. I think from “Indian Summer” and onward the band has grown and matured as a band. This is further evidence that Carbon Leaf is one of the best touring folk rock bands around.

Virginia’s folk rock band Carbon Leaf made a stop at the Highline Ballroom Wednesday night in New York City. The band is currently on tour to support their new album “Nothing Rhymes with Woman” out on Vanguard Records. I’ve been meaning to see Carbon Leaf over the years but this was the first time seeing them. I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with their live show! If you’ve never been to a Carbon Leaf show before, you’re missing out!
