The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies have posted an update about their upcoming album as well as a cryptic release date.
From the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies official website:
September 5, 2007 — Susquehanna. Damn that one armed man! New record on horizon!
Hi everybody,
The record is tracked finally! We just need to mix 6 of the songs and paste a pretty picture on it. My buddy Billy is the engineer and he needs to go to Paris, France (as Gramma Marlowe would call it) to escape my “I just farted in your face” jokes for awhile, then he promised he would come home, put on a fake smile and twist my knobs until I say when.
I am guessing that by mid October I no longer will have to get an instantaneous ulcer about how much money we wasted in the making of it. Yay! The record is called Susquehanna; named for the shallow, muddy, slow rollin’, evil, flooding river I grew up on in southern NY state. There are 12 songs on it. They are all part of the same story….. does that make it a rock opera, concept album or just a bunch of stuff that happened?
I am disappointed to report that I had hoped that in the process of making a record concerning memory and loss, that I might somehow jar loose the repressed memory of what it was that the one arm man told me, down by that river, never to repeat, when I was 10- but I still have no idea. I think that if I could remember, I would be able to finally throw up, but my streak still stands at 33 years without reverse peristaltic relief. Yay! For my part, I can sincerely say that I hated making Susquehanna, but it turned out good.
Its been a pleasure serving you, the listening public, and please come again :-).
