The Mountain Goats, Rock Plaza Central & more play AIDS Benefit @ Brooklyn Masonic Temple next week

The Mountain Goats, Rock Plaza Central, comedian/Daily Show correspondent John Oliver, and many more will take the stage at Brooklyn-based charitable organization Supersnack’s third annual benefit concert and gala next Friday to raise funds for AIDSWalk. Supersnack says its purpose “is to add insult to injury and then even more insult in order to make a difference.” Supersnack charity organizers plan to raise $50,000 for AIDSWalk, the largest AIDS fundraising event in the world. Tickets can also be won by e-mailing [email protected] with the subject line “Supersnack”. A winner will be selected at random and notified on Thursday, May 16th .
“Supersnack’s Big Third Ball: An Evening of Music, Hilarity, and Hitting AIDS Where It Hurts” will take place on Friday, May 16th at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Supersnack website, www.supersnack.org/.
100% of the proceeds from Supersnack’s Big Third Ball will go to AIDS Walk New York, benefiting Gay Men’s Health Crisis and 60 other tri-state area AIDS service organizations. Supersnack volunteers, Redhook Ale Brewery, Goose Island Brewery, boomBOOM Presents, and The MuseBox make the benefit possible.
Featured performers will include: The Mountain Goats, Rock Plaza Central, and John Oliver (“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”). Also appearing will be author Sarah Bunting (“Television Without Pity”) and comedians Dave Hill (MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, MOJO, UCB) and Rob Lathan (Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre, MTV’s “Human Giant”) and a gaggle of performances by additional musicians, comedians, writers, performance artists, and poets. The benefit will be hosted by national sex educators, authors and funny persons Gwenn Barringer and Shawn Decker (“My Pet Virus”).
