That’s just what the music industry needs right now. 2 asshole giant companies merging together and creating a company that will charge 20 dollars for fucking service charges, send their readers to TicketNow to buy off scalpers and other unfriendly practices. I seriously hope the Government plans to step in and try to stop this merger from happening.

Something needs to be done with the way tickets are being bought, especially in this shitty economy. You think charging 13 dollars for service charges for Franz Ferdinand tickets is going to help the economy and the music biz? If you think so, you’re going to notice a downward spiral of ticket sells and you’re behemoth of a company is going to collapse. And you know what I’m going to do? Giggle my mother fuckin’ ass off.

I think bands and other people that aren’t in it for the money need to think up a way to purchase tickets without having to deal with Ticketbastard or Live Nazis. Purchase tickets at the venues could be a solution but then Live Nation owns half of them so really, that doesn’t really make sense. Creating separate fan-oriented sale pages for tours has worked for bands and think that avenue might be better. Something seriously needs to be done and glad musicians like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello are raising a stink about these companies. End rant…

From BizJournal.com:
Ticketmaster Entertainment and Live Nation s rumored merger is taking shape and is expected to be announced either Monday afternoon or Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal reports that deal talks reached the final stages Sunday night, following the Grammy Awards. WSJ says senior management and board members of both companies will manage the combined entertainment conglomerate.

The new company reportedly will be called Live Nation Entertainment Inc., WSJ reports. Previous rumors stated the combined company would be called Live Nation Ticketmaster.
