Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds will be coming to Blu-Ray on June 1st. The movie starred Tom Cruise, an annoying Dakota Fanning and a looney Tim Robbins. I’m not really crazy about the movie but I’m sure it will look nice on Blu-Ray. On the Blu-Ray, there will be over 2 hours of bonus materials. Sounds like a good deal if you like this flick.

Dollhouse, from the excellent Joss Whedon, creator of cult faves Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Firefly, is about an elite, illegal underground facility in which humans are treated in a odd human trafficking way. Scientists download skills, behaviors, and memories into the “Actives” brains and then they are set out into the world to facilitate the client’s needs and wants. Starring the beautiful and captivating Eliza Dushku, as Echo one of the elite “Actives” in the Doll house, Echo starts to have self awareness behaviors that starts her down uncharted territory. If fans of the Whedon-verse and Sci Fi did not get a chance to see this series yet, then you better get started now because it is worth it!

Believe it or not, I haven’t seen the majority of Alien movies. I’ve seen most of Alien 3, which I know isn’t the best one. I have them in my Netflix queue and I’m ready to watch them soon. I just never got around to seeing them and they look might scary too! Hell, I’m even scared of the Great Movie Ride in MGM Studios in Orlando! I’m a puss, what can I say. Anyway, 20th Century Fox has hired Jon Spaihts to write a prequel that has Ridley Scott attached to return as director. Since I love the work of Ridley Scott, I’ll definitely see this when I see the other films first.

Never seen an episode of Star Trek, never seen a movie until J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek this summer. Now I can say I saw something Star Trek. It’s still one of the best movies of the year, along with Up and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The movie has already been announced on DVD and Blu-Ray for November 17th. Star Trek had everything you could ask for in a movie: action, space battles, comedy, and of course, girls with huge green breasts. I’ll continue to watch the new Star Trek movies but I don’t really feel like seeing the old TV shows and movies though.

Starring: Rick Moranis, Mel Brooks, John Candy, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Joan Rivers, Dick Van Patten, George Wyner
Directed By: Mel Brooks
Written By: Mel Brooks, Thomas Meehan, Ronny Graham
Studio: MGM/UA
The Mel Brooks sci fi classic, Spaceballs is on Blu-Ray for the first time, and like other editions, you want to have this one as well. Starring Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis and John Candy in this hysterical take on the Sci Fi genre with spoofs of Star Trek, Star Wars and Flash Gordon to name a few. Mel Brooks strikes gold with everything he works on and this film was no different. Yeah, some of the jokes are a little dated but this film still cracks me the hell up.
