“Put your party pants in the wash, get your beauty sleep now, do whatever stretches you need to do to avoid dancing cramps because Norwegian party-pop band Kakkmaddafakka (no lie, that’s their name) are coming to tear apart New York City.” CMJ
It takes a few tries to pronounce the name of Bergen, Norway dance-rockers Kakkmaddafakka, and when you do, you realize that you may have unintentionally let some obscenities fly. But after you give the tracks a spin, you’ll be hooked and screaming the band’s name (hopefully not in front of children). Kakkmaddafakka will be playing two New York shows in the coming weeksJune 16th at Piano’s and June 17th at Rehab.
Some CMJ staffers got a chance to check the band out at this year’s By:Larm Festival in Oslo noting, “Kakkmaddafakka put on an upbeat performance that was heavy and sweaty, brassy energy and kept the crowd moving from start to finish. It was a great way to close out the by:Larm festival.”
The band’s live shows have become renowned overseas for indoor fireworks, onstage dancing choirboys, and a wind section dubbed “The Blowjobbers”. Hailing from the Bergen scene that birthed Datarock, Kings of Convenience, Annie, and Bjrn Torske it’s not terribly surprising that these kids are talented.
