Up In The Air coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on March 9th

On March 9th, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Up In The Air on Blu-ray and DVD! The Oscar nominated movie is co-written and directed by Oscar nominee Jason Reitman and stars George Clooney. I haven’t seen the film yet but I’ll probably catch it when it arrives on DVD. It looks like a good film, and I always like Clooney’s roles. Based on other Award shows, I don’t think it will win Best Picture though.

Paramount developing a sequel to Four Brothers

The John Singleton directed movie Four Brothers wasn’t necessarily a big hit but it did okay at the box office. Now Paramount is developing a sequel, in which Mark Wahlberg and John Singleton would return. Who knows if the other cast would return. Supposedly they are calling this “Five Brothers,” but shouldn’t they call it “Three Brothers?” Garrett Hedlund’s character is dead so doesn’t make sense to me… I kind of liked Four Brothers, it had some cool action and they played hockey so I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel.

I wanted to see the Goods in the theater this summer, but I decided to just wait it out until it comes out on video. Two things that were concerns of mine: the movie was less than 90 minutes and the film came out in August. That usually means that the film isn’t the best thing in the world. Let’s just say I’m glad I didn’t see this in the theater.

Paranormal Activity out on DVD & Blu-Ray December 29th

news_1109_paranormalactivity
Paranormal Activity is the biggest success story of the year, maybe ever in film? The film was made for only sexual favors, and has now made over 100 million dollars! I haven’t seen the movie but I probably won’t see this when it comes out on video. I heard the ending is the best part, so why sit through something for an hour and a half, only to see the best stuff at the end for 5 minutes…and stuff that appears in the trailer too? But Paramount clearly did something right with the marketing and suckered the people in. But in the end, all this movie really is Blair Witch 3 just minus the shaky camera.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DVD & Blu-Ray out October 20th

news_0809_transformers2dvd
One of the year’s biggest movies and biggest disappointments is quickly coming to DVD and Blu-Ray! Now everyone can fast forward the scenes whenever “the Twins” are on the screen. Maybe the bonus features include an option of removing those racist annoying characters completely from the movie? The movie will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 20th from Paramount/Dreamworks.

Neil Burger re-adapting Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH?

news_0709_mrsfrisby
One movie that scared the crap out of me as a kid could be getting re-made from Paramount and director Neil Burger. The Secret of NIMH was about a widowed mouse who enlists the help of escaped lab rats to help her against a farmer and his plow. The way it was animated was beautiful and scary for a kid. Maybe it’s just a whole movie about rats that gives me the willies. But apparently Burger would adapt the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and perhaps make it live action, maybe animated, maybe both? Who knows. Either way, I’ll probably skip this because the old movie still brings back haunted memories of scary rats. *runs away screaming*

J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek out on DVD & Blu-Ray November 17th

news_0709_startrekdvd
Never seen an episode of Star Trek, never seen a movie until J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek this summer. Now I can say I saw something Star Trek. It’s still one of the best movies of the year, along with Up and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The movie has already been announced on DVD and Blu-Ray for November 17th. Star Trek had everything you could ask for in a movie: action, space battles, comedy, and of course, girls with huge green breasts. I’ll continue to watch the new Star Trek movies but I don’t really feel like seeing the old TV shows and movies though.

One tread in movies lately is the anti-Nazi film. You have movies like Defiance, Valkyrie and the upcoming Inglorious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino. Hey I’m all for revenges on some Nazis! I enjoy most of Ed Zwick’s movies and the same goes with Defiance. While some may not like it, I did.

I Love You, Man DVD & Blu-Ray out August 11th

news_0609_iloveyouman
I Love You, Man will be coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray August 11th 2009 from Paramount Home Entertainment. The comedy had an impressive cast and it looked funny as hell. Just like with most movies, I never got around to seeing it. The rate that movies are being released on DVD, why bother paying 20 bucks for a movie when you can own the movie a couple of months later? Anywho, this film looks awesome, and the soundtrack is pretty kick ass too. Read the press release:
