I hoped to really like this. I love most Casio punk, and just about all bands with “sugar” in their name is pretty good – Sugar, The Sugarcubes, The Sugarbeats…

Unfortunately, Eat Sugar isn’t exactly casio punk – they’re an LCD Soundsystem clone with some 80s casio effects thrown in. Their website imagery aside, they’re straight-up modern-day dance punk, and anything nostalgic is just thrown in as a gimmick. I could probably live with that as their music isn’t terrible, but the vocals are so damn hipsterish. Ugh.
