Ion Dissonance is one of the few bands who can be brutally chaotic and yet still listenable. Although they’ve gone light on the noisy-but-technical grindcore on this album, the album is still filled with bludgeoning metalcore that is structured and even (gasp) melodic.

This, to me, is a good thing because I like to listen to music rather than be challenged by it. The way I see it, the band is becoming better songwriters, not getting soft or selling out. Crafting blistering metalcore that doesn’t suck is no easy task, and maybe I’m a giant wimp but I’d be pleased as punch if Ion Dissonance continued down this path of less dissonance.
