Featuring Scott Reynolds of ALL and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, this is an eclectic album of alt-folk, lo-fi, space rock, and swamp blues. It has cohesion and an internal logic, never getting too weird or off-base.

Their sound is interesting, but it’s the lyrics that I’m most impressed by, with songs having a strange poetic or story-like quality, but executed so that you don’t even notice.

The album isn’t flawless – it’s missing a driving energy and pop sensibility, and there are some throwaway tracks like a 4-minute piano piece. In fact, I’m not so sure I could recommend this album other than to fans of the Flaming Lips and other semi-challenging highbrow indie bands.

Bottom Line:
Notable Tracks: The Boy Who Stole Your Heart, Tracy Hardman’s Cheek
