With generic vox and guitars that chug along with monotonous riffs, Textures almost completely sucks. Their saving grace is their namesake – texture. Underneath their boring guitars and vox is excellent technical drumming, which gives their sound some depth.

Drumming nonwithstanding, the songwriting is mostly chunka-chunka metalcore with two or three wussy ballad soundscape throwaways. But there is the occasional brilliant song. The best track is the opener, Drive. It most successfully combines melodic layers and time changes with their aggression. Unfortunately, the rest of the album doesn’t stack up.

Bottom Line: Generic metalcore from the Netherlands.
Notable Tracks: Drive, Circular
